COL647: Consent in 2022

In this episode of Cubs Out Loud, the guys return to a previous topic. It’s been almost five years since they produced episodes on Consent and Respect. So here in 2022, a number of years later, it’s time to revisit this important conversation. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, it seems that people are living their most bold lives when it comes to opinions and actions. The US political landscape is looking divisive between the majority conservative and progressive parties. How much do the cubs think the practice of recognizing and giving consent plays a factor outside of kink and sexual activities? Have any of their thoughts changed in the years since the previous debate?

  • Ches Clark SHOW NOTE [re: COL421]: I realized after the fact that I didn’t get in the whole story about my birthday dinner. (I think I cut myself off because I felt like I was monopolizing and rambling on.) That being said, I wanted to make a small addendum, especially given that I was giving someone who wasn’t present to defend himself a bit of a hard time. Brady *did* sincerely apologize for initiating the song and spectacle debacle as part of owning up to it, and had no idea beforehand that I was so vehemently opposed to that sort of public display. He truly did feel terrible about it afterward, but I was just in no mood to hear it at the time. He was just trying to be playful and funny, and so for those who might be worried about him getting “two black marks in my little book,” have no fear–most of that accounting business is tongue-in-cheek. Brady and I are very much okay with each other. Cheers!

    • I’m looking for some movie recommendations! I’m after a movie featuring the bear/chub community. Romantic, drama, comedy – all work. Not looking for a porn flick but sex scenes are fine. I’ve heard BearCity might be a good place to start. What are some others? Maybe some ideas on the next @cubsoutloud? Thanks Tumblr folks!

  • Chester Beltowski: Show idea… So I’m in the shower, lathering up my naked body, running my fingers through my luscious beard, and thinking about how full my schedule is once I return to the US (on Feb 29), and I realized I need to pick up some Vitamin C. Why? you ask… Because right after I get home, I head to my first bear run of the year, Fur Flee. I then thought, this would make a great topic for COL. I know our good friend Ches has mentioned that he has a pre-run regiment for warding off Kennel Cough aka bear flu. So why not have a show about the dos and don’ts of staying healthy at before, during, and after a bear run.
