So here in 2022, a number of years later, it’s time to revisit this important conversation. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, it seems that people are living their most bold lives when it comes to opinions and actions. The US political landscape is looking divisive between the majority conservative and progressive parties. How much do the cubs think the practice of recognizing and giving consent plays a factor outside of kink and sexual activities? First up, the guys dish on their opinions about the co-opting of Pride to make money for larger corporations. From commercialism to pandering, listen in as the guys share their thoughts on how big business may not be so friendly to the LGBTQIA+ community.

LGBTQIA+ Pride 2021 – Part 1: Corporations

This year for our annual Pride discussion, we have a two-parter. First up, a number of things came into the media sphere for 2021. And the online community had many opinions about the co-opt of PRIDE to make money by companies and especially larger corporations. Some have the opinion that commercialism of human rights causes is evil. Another opinion is that companies pander to the LGBTQIA+ community for one month while working with others against our rights and humanity.

Two years ago a Forbes article advised to be aware of companies with Pride color logos that also donated to anti-gay politicians.

And then there is the evolution of community based entities that partner with businesses for PRIDE. GLAAD this year came out with over two dozen partnerships including: Adobe, Audible, Bud Light, Crocs, Fabletics, GAP, Kellogg, Sally Hansen, Samuel Adams, Savage X Fenty, Skittles, Teletubbies, Ugg, Universal Music, Zales.
