Let’s Talk About Food: Snacks

In the past we’ve talked about our favorite food, holiday treat and tricks, seasonal stuff, sexy yumms, and of course bacon. This time around it is all about the snacks baby. From sweet to salty to savory and simple, which ones do we prefer and can we all agree on them?

Salty – hold on to your blood pressure [link of example foods]

Savory – give me that umami [link of example foods]

  • Jeff: Salami and Cream Cheese rolls
  • Damon: Turkey Bites (Old Wisconsin Turkey Snack Bites)
  • Gary: meat sticks/tubes [pepperoni, summer sausage, SlimJims, etc.]

Simple – it’s really just that [nothing complicated, probably a natural food, no/minimal processing]

  • Jeff: Triscuits and Hummus
  • Damon: Trail Mix
  • Gary: CHEESE! CHEESE! CHEESE!

Sweet – blood sugar be damned! [link of example foods]

  • Jeff: Pudding, Fruit Blended Yogurt
  • Damon: Chocolate, specifically Kit-Kat
  • Gary: cookies – but nothing plain/boring

  • Re: COL478: LTAS: Discreets / DL – Michael Quinichett: Loved the podcast guys. To tag onto what Damon said, the “down low” or DL was also a term referenced in R&B music, specifically TLC’s 1994 “Creep” and R. Kelly’s 1995 “Down Low.” Although those songs inferred infidelity within heterosexual relationships, the DL term crossed over into queer circles with the rise of HIV cases in women in the late 90s. In 2004, the term DL was fully thrust (hehe) onto the national stage when writer J.L King wrote “On The Down Low: A journey into the lives of ‘straight’ black men who sleep with men.” He was also interviewed by Oprah the same year.
