Hey Boys!!

I just rediscovered your podcast and started listening again. Glad you guys are back.

I listened to your recent episode about Coming Out. You mentioned that Ellen was the first one to come out on a major Television Show. actually there was a few characters before that. Brothers aired on showtime in the late 80’s. It featured three brothers Lou, Joe, and Cliff. Cliff came out to Joe and Lou earlier episodes. I remember my ex roommate telling me about this years ago. According to Wikipedia the first few seasons concentrated about issues that the LGBTIIQ Community faced at the time including coming out, HIV/AIDS, ..etc. They didn’t rely on gay stereotypes nor come across preachy (hmm maybe something that the writers of the New Normal missed but I digress-sorry saw the show and hated it-bland, unimaginative, racists, and homophobic in my opinion).

This would definitely be a series to watch on reruns sometime.

Keep up the good work guys and look forward to hearing your future segments.

Cheers!

Topics:

  • [Robert] Matthew Shepard – In early October of 1998, Matthew Shepard was a 21 year-old college student at the University of Wyoming at Laramie. One night, he went to a local bar and while there he met and eventually left with two other young men, Aaron McKinney and Russell Henderson. In the hours that followed, McKinney and Henderson beat, tortured, and robbed Matthew. They then tied him to a fence in a secluded area of Laramie to die. He was found the next day by a cyclist who thought he had stumbled upon a scarecrow. Matthew died on October 12th, 1998.
