I do have to say, I’m a little offended that y’all think so lowly of our community. What are you basing these percentages on? I know that you are just guessing based on personal experiences, but really? Where do you people go? Haha.

Now, yes, if you are just basing this on gay men who go to gay bars/clubs every week then sure, I would say 40% actively participate in some form of public sex. But, you have to ask yourself, what percentage of gay men go to gay bars/clubs every week.

During my time living in NYC as a gay nightlife photographer I can tell you I saw the same groups of people at every party, every week. Those out at night in the gay bars/clubs are a small percentage of the male gay community at large. Although they are the most visible.

I feel like when you are going to make such a negative, blanketed statement about our own community; perhaps you should think about it beyond your experience at the Eagle.

Devil’s Advocate: Who’s to say public sex is wrong or immoral? Especially when those morals come from a religion that has condemned us to be less than human?

Nevertheless I do feel like y’all are grossly over estimating those percentages. Just call me the naive optimist.

I know this feedback will come off as harsh. I guess what is troubling me most of all, is that you seem to be judging our community on places like the Eagle and Craigslist just like the rest of America.
