Cubs Out Loud

My friend Fredo posted on his blog, Grapefeed, the other day that Rent will be hitting the big screen again. What I’m finding pretty cool about this is that it’s not a sequel. I wouldn’t even call it a remake. It’s actually a tribute to the stage version of Rent. Says Fredo:

Playbill reports that the musical’s final Broadway performance on September 7 (June 1 was the original closing date.) will be filmed as part of Sony Pictures’ venture “the Hot Ticket.” The performance will play in movie theatres nationwide in late September.

Contrary to some people’s belief I’m sure, I really think this is very cool. Rent has been an excellent example of the modern musical and should be set up there with greats like Cats, Les Miserables, Bye Bye Birdie, The Pajama Game, Phantom of the Opera, Grease, Oklahoma, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and Return To The Forbidden Planet. When I see this in the theatres, especially the Alamo Drafthouse, I’m there. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Alamo has a sing-a-long.

Back To The Woods 4 -

I’ve registered for the Heart of Texas Bears annual campout Back To The Woods 4 and I just need to get some camp gear (tent, etc). Our Mr HOT Cub, Tim, will be there also as part of his duties as Mr HOT Cub 2008. So far I’m not sure if Mr Kudzucub will break away from his 360 and get out into the wilderness for a little while and join us, but whatever happens, it should be a great time. Right now the registration fee is $75 but the HOT Bears Secretary reminds us:

Just a reminder - the registration fee for Back to the Woods will increase on August 1_st. For those who have never been, it is a great opportunity to find out exactly what bears do in the woods.
