COL733: LTA… Tattoos

In this episode of Cubs Out Loud, it’s time for another Let’s Talk About… This time around, the guys discuss the formerly taboo topic of tattoos. From a rite of passage to a significant body mod, listen in as the cubs give their opinions on the art of tattoos. Is it part of gay ritual or just self expression?

Show Topic

LTA… Tattoos

From the dawn of time, we’ve marked up our bodies with artwork of varying kinds. Some temporary and others very permanent. The bear community has its own version of different ink styles as tattoos over the decades. But has tattooing become less prominent today? Were there any fads that came and went?

  • AJ Lewis: Was this the article you guys were talking about? Racism in the bear community- More prevalent than ever
    • Gary: That’s the one AJ. We linked on the podcast website for folks to click thru and read if they wanted. smile emoticon
  • RJ: Great episode…and i applaud you guys taking on some of the “untold” truths and issues within the community..keep up the good work as always…HUGS fellas
  • Don Collymore: I loved this last podcast. Bravo for daring to talk about racism in the Bear Community. I know someone ask if their si a group talking about this subject. There actually a Bear Podcast that does that. Male Media Mind Podcast is one that I listen to. A podcast for “is a blog that harnesses the collective creativity of nerdy black bears. ” They cover very thought provoking subjects and have great conversations on these subjects. Perhaps you could contact them and have a joint podcast on these topics.

Hey Boys!!

I just rediscovered your podcast and started listening again. Glad you guys are back.

I listened to your recent episode about Coming Out. You mentioned that Ellen was the first one to come out on a major Television Show. actually there was a few characters before that. Brothers aired on showtime in the late 80’s. It featured three brothers Lou, Joe, and Cliff. Cliff came out to Joe and Lou earlier episodes. I remember my ex roommate telling me about this years ago. According to Wikipedia the first few seasons concentrated about issues that the LGBTIIQ Community faced at the time including coming out, HIV/AIDS, ..etc. They didn’t rely on gay stereotypes nor come across preachy (hmm maybe something that the writers of the New Normal missed but I digress-sorry saw the show and hated it-bland, unimaginative, racists, and homophobic in my opinion).

This would definitely be a series to watch on reruns sometime.

Keep up the good work guys and look forward to hearing your future segments.

Cheers!
