Back To The Woods 4 –

B2W4-Poster I’ve registered for the Heart of Texas Bears annual campout Back To The Woods 4 and I just need to get some camp gear (tent, etc).  Our Mr HOT Cub, Tim, will be there also as part of his duties as Mr HOT Cub 2008.  So far I’m not sure if Mr Kudzucub will break away from his 360 and get out into the wilderness for a little while and join us, but whatever happens, it should be a great time.  Right now the registration fee is $75 but the HOT Bears Secretary reminds us:

Back to the Woods Reminder
Just a reminder – the registration fee for Back to the Woods will increase on August 1st.  For those who have never been, it is a great opportunity to find out exactly what bears do in the woods.
If you have any questions about back to the woods, please email bttw@heartoftexasbears.org.

Check out the HOT Bears Back To The Woods Website for more information.

International Bear Rendezvous: Bear Patrol. A preview of the biggest IBR ever

All of us on the IBR 2008 Committee staff are putting the finishing touches on our 9-month preparation for what we hope is the best IBR ever. Bears On Patrol- Bears in Uniform celebrates just that- police, fireman, army, etc.

Before we get into a little tour of what to expect, we want to remind everyone that IBR is a monumental event and it takes about 300 shift volunteers to operate smoothly. Without volunteers there would be no IBR. We have a large number of volunteer shifts, including Hospitality Suite and Hospitality Den (Bear Den)shifts that do need to be filled. These consist of manning duties like checking badges, replenishing snacks, etc. It may sound “boring” but these areas are IBR central for people gathering and you’ll meet tons of nice people here!

You receive one volunteer token for each volunteer shift you do. One Token is good for a IBR commerative dog-tag, 2 gets you a spanking brand new IBR 2008 hat, and three, a T-shirt. And you also get an invitation to the IBR 2008 volunteer thank-you luncheon and check distribution (what it’s all about when we give out the BIG checks!).

Please check out our volunteer shift page and browse the different shift areas, times, and titles available. If you sign up for a shift, PLEASE remember to CHECK YOUR SPAM folder and CONFIRM the shift so we know you are coming !!

COL @ TBRU?

tbrulogo We just started up and now comes a major decision in my life. TBRU or not TBRU? That is the question. Tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and lubrication . . . . okay so that isn’t working. In any case, as of today there is only only more days to register for TBRU and get the run package at $90. The TBRU website is stating that the host hotel is already full, but one overflow hotel is just on the other side of the parking lot and the other is only a block away so register and get your hotel rooms now. The only problem now is to figure out if I should go or not.

Anyone want to buy me a Black Macbook?
